10 months

Guess what little.... I mean, big guy is 10 months old?!?! You guessed it! Time is flying. It is amazing how much different it is raising Smith than Chuck. With Chuck I was working full time, would sometimes go two weeks without seeing Dr. and now that I have something to compare it to, am pretty sure I had postpartum. This time is a whole different ballgame. I'm enjoying being with the baby.

Right now, Smith is working hard on his climbing. All our barricades are now useless.

He (finally) has two teeth. We are a little behind with the whole teething. They just broke through last week.

Smith now has free range if the house since he can climb over things and push chairs around. This is what happens when you go potty. He crawls under the table and stands up so there is no way to get him out.

There is no such thing as privacy in this house.

We have to go to playgrounds with swings now. Smith will sit in the stroller if he has a snack but otherwise he wants to play too!

Safari

I know I haven't written anything in a long time!

These boys are keeping me busy and when I am not being mama, I am planning this Fall Fest for Chuck's school which just might kill me. We have totally done better than we ever thought. With some late sponsorships and donations we hit $4500 cash donations and may go over $2000 for silent auction items! I am not sure how that happened but we have really been working our tails off. When I say "we" I mean two of us. Yup.

Anyway.... Bob Bob and Granna were here for a week but had to go home when Hurricane Jaren was threatening the Gulf Coast. This is not the first time a hurricane has surprised them. I think one time in Jackson they had to leave early.

While they were here, we went in a drive thru safari.

Yes, Smith tried to eat the animal food

We also went to Canton Trade Days or "first Monday". Smith loved it!

We went out to eat to get hibachi but Chuck refused to stay with the sitter. Oh well.

We got curtains put up in Smith's room. We also got the master decorated with sheets and bedding that actually match. And I finally went on my first shopping spree since I had Smith. I've been sporting baggy jeans, yoga pants, and tee shirts. I'm a little more stylish now.

9 months

On Friday, Smith was 9 months old! This is going by a lot faster than it did with Chuck.

Smith went to the doctor earlier in the week for a check up. All he needed was a flu shot.

At 6 months, he was 100% weight and 45% height. At 9 months he is still 100% weight but now he is 79% in height. So luckily we have grown taller as we grow wider.

Smith slept horribly Friday night. He screamed the entire night. He had decent naps yesterday. I realized he has gotten his first cold from his flu shot. His nose is running and he doesn't know what to do about not being able to breathe.

Last night, I needed some medicine, Smith needed some, and Dr. needed some. All for various reasons. We either didn't have it or it was expired. The boys and I went to Walgreens and restocked our medicine cabinet. All out thermometers were out of batteries so we stocked up on those as well. Nothing is worse than having to run to the store when someone is sick. We are fully prepared for any kind of sickness.

One of the teachers at Chuck's school is a photographer so she took Smith to the vacant lot /open space two doors down and took pics(some grumpy baby) while I played with Chuck and her little girl.

Standing up

This is what has been going on at our house.

He's not very good at crawling but all he wants to do is pull up on stuff. He is starting to walk along surfaces like the length of the couch. You do have to guard him constantly because he does topple pretty hard. We've already bonked our head once.

Speaking of bonking heads. I finally got the call from school that Chuck got hurt. I have actually prepared myself pretty well for the first broken arm. Thank goodness (?) today it was just his face. He was inning the climbing wall and his foot slipped and he busted his nose and lip. That's what they said when they called however they also said "we are checking his teeth now." I figured that was their way of easing into "your child's teeth fell out". I was totally e pecking a toothless redneck three year old when I got there! The teachers were a little jittery because there was so much blood. His arms and hands were covered. They thought he broke his nose and list a few teeth.

Smith and I rushed up there. He was fine and even eventually got in a playful mood. He wanted to stay at school so Smith and I walked him to class and sat with him while he ate lunch. He really enjoyed that!

So our days are full of head bonks around here.

Sleeping

Someone slept a little better last night and just took an hour and a half nap (usually they last 15 minutes)! And Chuck slept in until 8 (yep, one went down right when the other got up). Now we have some grocery shopping to do!

Smith in his new 18 month jammies.
