karaoke

many of you know that when i have "black" girls night out, we partake in a little karaoking. thursday we had a little karaoke action. hilarious! you know you always think you know a song until you get up in front of people to sing it and then you knoe none of the words but you can surely belt it out in the shower. well this week as i was looking through the book, i came across Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice. this song i was sure i knew. so i choose that song to sing with many not having faith that i was going to know all the words. for all who do not know Ice Ice Baby, it is a white dude who raps. perfect for this occasion, right?! boy oh boy did i show them! i got up there, hit every word and rapped my way to the end of the song and got a standing ovation ( one of the teachers parents were there, sister and brother in law, and three friends of the brother in law!) ha, so much fun. the song has officially been retired. no one else is allowed to sing the song and it is now "my song". as my obsession with the bud light commercials continue, i leave you with Mr. King of the Karaoke Mic....... (on a slight side note. we do all know how tone deaf i am... right! this is perfect for me!)

calling all cooks

during this first year of teaching, i feel as though i have greatly neglected my husband. he could probably count the number of meals I have cooked him on one hand. ok, that is an exaggeration! he could probably use both hands and feet. so i am asking for your help! i am looking for all good recipes. my summer will be filled with yummy wholesome meals for the husband. i don't want any recipes with weird ingredients that may entail traveling to several grocery stores. it could be side dishes, desserts, main dishes. anything that seems to be in your monthly line up for meals. i am even looking for recipes like "throw chicken into pan, pour one can of soup on top. bake 30 minutes". simplicity always works! basics always works too! i am not one to experiment with spices either so if you usually do something very basic but seem to use a spice i might not think of, i woudl love to hear about it! ( marty.... vegetable lasagna?) i am hoping that i can get a few more recipes under my belt that will be worked into our usual meals that i can get accustomed to before school starts again in august!
