Learn Something New Everyday

Our little guy is growing up so fast. We love tummy time now and we are starting to figure out the steps for crawling!!! Today we figured out how to get our tummy off the ground! The sound that we make when we do a raspberry with our lips has also progressed into a nicer sound! Enjoy the videos! ( You may have to turn the sound up a little more for the second one!)

Shopping with Mama

Chuck and I are going to our last baby shower tomorrow! We have finally made it to the end of the baby shower season. We had to run to get a gift today so I thought it would be a good idea to see how a buggy ride would go. We had lots of fun!

Of course we couldn't get out of there without buying Chuck something. He is obsessed with music and stuffed animals these days. We found a seahorse that plays music for 5 minutes before it cuts off. Perfect for a road trip because Chuck has to have a music box to fall asleep to. Well, it seems as though shopping with Mama is exhausting and when you are exhausted there is nothing more comforting than your new stuffed animal.

Old School

At a baby shower, Granna and Bob Bob gave Chuck one of Bob Bob's old outfits. We tried it on to make sure it wasn't too small yet. We still have some room. It must be an 18 month size. This little booger is just too cute.

Breakage

I noticed when I was taking a shower this morning that the water pressure was extremely low. I figured they might be working somewhere. When I pulled out of the driveway this morning, I noticed that there was water pouring out of the street right under Dr.'s car. So I called him and told him to come out and move his car so it wouldn't fall into a sink hole! Dr. immediately called the water company so we could go ahead and get in line to be fixed. This was the sight this morning. All the white stuff on the street is the water pouring out of the pavement.

Can you believe that they show up to fix the water main break at 9 at night!!! They are jack hammering 20 feet from Chuck's window. Our chill little man has not stirred yet..... and let's hope it stays that way because this mama is fighting a migraine.

What a pleasant Friday night!

Happy Halloween

All by his precious self

Yes, indeed. Chuck is officially feeding himself at daycare. This is a picture of Chuck's daily report that gets filled out everyday. If you notice the top line in blue and then the two below it in brown and purple.... it shows on the right the staff member that gave the bottle to him and it officially says "SELF" in all three spots. For a while, he was only feeding himself one or two bottles but this week, he has consistently fed himself all three bottles!!! He is such a big boy! I just love that baby.

Be looking for Halloween pics tomorrow! Chuck has the Halloween parade at school and he is so excited about it!

This Guy

Who slept through the night last night? You got it! This guy.... the guy in the socks that look like cowboy boots. It was a blissful night that consisted of cowboy sleeping from 7:15 until 6!! Yahoo!
Chuck relaxes in Mom and Dad's bed before going to school.

Napping

Can't think of much that is sweeter than Buddha buddy napping. I could just eat those legs up!

And yes, that arm is in mid air. About ten minutes before this pic, we were flat on our back with both feet straight up in the air!

'Tis the season

Now, I will admit right now, that when looking for my lifetime partner, I was looking for someone who would keep me laughing. The ability to cook/bake was at the end of my list if even on my list at all. Apparently, Dr. did not have it too high on his list either ( thank goodness... see last post entitled "dinner time"). With that being said, Dr. has trumped all attempts at making me laugh and he did it without trying too hard.

Picture this.... Dr. arrives home from a long day of work with groceries containing ingredients for a baking activity. In his back pocket, Dr. pulls out three recipes containing pumpkin. OK, I thought. It is fall. Let's give it a try. Unfortunately, Dr. wanted the pumpkin baked goods last night when I really needed to be getting my grades done. So, Dr. went about baking by himself in the kitchen. I knew that his baking plan was going to consist of pumpkin cookies, pumpkin bread, or pumpkin cheesecake. Last night he opted for the cookies. They are actually called Gob cookies that you are supposed to sandwich icing between two of the "gobs" (double doozie if you will).

Dr. followed the directions perfectly. Even putting the dough in a ziploc bag and cutting off a corner to make these spiral gob cookies. Well, it turns out that these cookies were no cookies at all. When they came out of the oven they were actually pumpkin bread. They were exactly like bread that someone had cooked in a small circle. I will admit that these "cookies" were pretty good. However, it was very difficult to actually "stomach" them when they looked like this......

This whole cookie experience has given a whole new meaning to the saying "a pile of shit" and has given a much needed laugh....

Grandma Margrave, I know you are proud.

Dinner time

We just had the worst meal ever.... and I cooked it. I am going ahead and admitting it so when it is talked and laughed about later, you all will know that my feelings aren't hurt.

I guess I should start off by saying that before even beginning the cooking process, the lid of the cast iron pot was stuck on. That should have been a sign and I should have gone straight to McDondalds. Dr. finally got the lid off after a good 5 minutes so that I could proceed in making my "one-pot meal" where everything goes in one pot and you have a well rounded dinner. I should have known that it was not possible.... for me anyways. ( Again, I am trying to find easy ways to work, raise a child, and be a wife...... work smart, not hard, right?) Ok... so I continue to fix my one pot meal.... the second sign I should of stopped is when I spilled half of the potatoes on the floor. But I was persistent. Our meal was to cook for 40 minutes. At about 35 minutes, I ventured back to the kitchen and as I swam through the smoke I should have realized that yet there was another sign that dinner was not going to be good. The smoking cast iron pot was then taken outside onto the deck while it finished smoking. Unfortunately, when it finished smoking there was no big reveal because we couldn't get the lid off again. I would have paid a million dollars for a picture of what the two of us looked like with oven mitts on, standing on the back deck, staring at our dinner that was trapped inside the pot. After about 15 minutes of tugging, a knife was used to pry the lid off so that we could let the remainder of the smoke out.

Do I have to restate what I said at the beginning of the post? This was the worst dinner ever. I ate one carrot and had to stop because of the putrid taste of smoke. Some how, Dr. is sitting next to me with a clean plate... what a sweetie. My next post will be about the number of hours he spent bowing to the porcelain throne. ( Update: Dr. just turned to me and said "that was not good... at all. I feel like I am going to have cancer now.") Yes my friends, it was that bad. We did just come to a conclusion that all the ingredients were right but it just didn't work out. All in all... it is the thought that counts.

So, bad attempt at dinner #573 happened on the evening of October 26th. I'm ok with it. On my list next time I go to target is a cast iron pot with a removable lid and a non-smoking coating.

Now, for a peanut butter sandwich. ( Oh, and a shower because my hair reeks of cast iron smoke.

My Gym

So, I have been looking for a place to take Chuck to play. I came across My Gym (click here).... which I have known about and am so mad they don't have one here. Take a look at it. I would totally open a franchise if Dr. would let me! You could get so much business in a large city! My search continues for a children's fitness gym in this town.

My little pumpkin

We had a lovely Sunday. Chuck touched his first pumpkin. He wasn't very excited about the picture taking!
