Medallions

Dr. complete his ceiling medallion project. We just have to lengthen the chain on the dining room chandelier and put a matching blue silk sleeve that will match the curtains. ( This post is really for my mother who wanted to see the medallions up. I know most of you do not care about our ceiling!)

6 months!

Can you believe that Charles Lowry Weber is the big 6 months!!! And an incredible 6 months it has been! There are so many words to describe it and we wouldn't trade it for anything! Out little man puts the biggest smiles on our faces no matter what time of day and no matter what mood we are in.
This morning I decided I would try one of Chuck's cousin's outfits on him. He is officially wearing Jackson Charles' clothes! We had an impromptu photo shoot this morning as we were running late for school! I had to take a picture of him in his cousin's clothes though!! How about that leather chair for the background!

Can you get much cuter than this!!!! Happy 6 months Chuckman.

Teething

Well, filming for "The Help" started today! Old timey cars everywhere, rubber neckers, film crews, etc. My afternoon was not as successful as it should have been. I do have to say it was odd dropping off my dry cleaning at a place that had sausage hanging in the windows.... staged to be a delicatessen.

My afternoon consisted of looking for teething tablets. We knew Chuck had started teething but apparently he is becoming a little bit of a nuisance at daycare. We can't see any teeth but I may see a little bump on his gums. His teachers are not supposed to give him any medicine but they made it pretty clear that if there happened to be something in his book bag that they wouldn't hesitate using it!!! They said he wasn't that bad but the lady at the front desk mentioned him screaming and holding his mouth. His teachers said he was screaming because he didn't want to be in his crib. Anyways, I won't be surprised if we see a little tooth pop up one of these days. We assumed he started teething about a month ago because the slobber production had gone up!

Chuckers turns the big 6 months on Friday!!! What a big boy. I will be taking off on Monday so we can go get our shots! Wish us luck!

Help!

Well, some of you may have heard of the book "The Help". It is a book that is "set during the nascent civil rights movement in Jackson, Miss., where black women were trusted to raise white children but not to polish the household silver." Many believe that this book actually took place IN Fondren. Anyways, they are actually filming the movie here in Fondren. As most of you know, our neighborhood (Fondren) has a small downtown. Cute, old, quaint buildings.... somewhat run down. In the past two weeks, I noticed that the yoga studio had been painted like an old shell station. The cleaners, and the shoe hospital had gotten new signs and all the buildings had gotten their old awnings redone and their outside walls painted. The old movie theatre got a great sign and a fresh coat of paint too. Downtown is flourishing and looks so cute thanks to the movie crews that have been working on all the buildings to make them camera ready! What a great addition to our Fondren downtown that is just a couple of blocks from our house! Check out the little newspaper link about it by clicking here!!

We think little man may be back on his waking up once a night schedule. I was wondering when he was going to go back to that schedule. The ear infection threw him off. Just felt miserable I think.... but what a good sport he was. He really was a trooper through all that throwing up and that high temperature but we are so thankful he is feeling good and back to normal.

We are still not in our classrooms at school. I am still in an empty classroom with gorgeous white walls while another 2nd grade class has class on the stage!.... seriously. We have NO idea when we will get to move back "home". Our students have adapted well but it has placed a pretty big damper on the teachers. We are isolated from each other and never get to see each other which makes our day very uneventful. We usually keep each other laughing so that we don't mind being at work everyday but lately we just have no motivation to do any extra. We show up, teach our kids and get out of school as quickly as possible. It is so sad because we miss each other so much and used to have so much fun! We are all in totally different sections of the school. One of the 2nd grade teachers is pregnant with her 3rd child (the 1st child is adopted) so she is deciding whether she is going to come back next year and the other one is trying to decide whether this location is where she needs to be. So that leaves me with a hard decision. I can stick it out one more year by myself ( although there is some hope they might be staying..... maybe with some convincing) or spend my last year in a different school ( you can transfer schools after you have worked somewhere 3 years). If I am the only one that stays, I will have to be team leader which means that I will have to dedicate a significant amount of time to meetings and paperwork. So, we will see how things progress, I have a feeling that if we don't get back into our rooms soon they may see the entire second grade team vanish before their eyes. The longer we are away from each other the worse it is going to get.

On a lighter note..... well maybe not so much lighter..... here is a video of our little man..... with his chair stuck on his hiney....gotta love the fat rolls!

Kids.....

So every nine weeks, all students in the district have to do a writing. We go through it as a class and answer a specific question. We work starting with a bubble map and eventually get to a 6 sentence paragraph. This writing is about our "something beautiful". That one thing that makes your heart smile. We get everything from family, puppies, computers.... and this year an iguana.

This child is one that I held back and have the pleasure of teaching him again..... along with all the others I held back ( did i mention that most of the children I held back, I held back because of their behavior). Anyway, this is his writing...... ( cracks me up!)

"My something beautiful is my iguana. He is beautiful because he is so lazy. He loves to sleep. He is also special because he plays with me. We love to have staring contests. I can not live with out my iguana."

Jumping!

Today, Chuck got a jumper! It was a present from Dr. since he had worked some extra shifts! He doesn't know quite yet that he can jump up and down but the toy on it is just so thrilling. I am sure there will be some more video soon of our little jumping man.

Workday

Well, today Dr. and I worked on changing out the lights in the dining room and living room. We did not finish. We have some ceiling medallions we want to put up so we had to get those painted. It will be done tomorrow for sure. Chuck was a big help and chilled outside while I painted and while Dr. worked on some of the lights. We are trying to slowing touch on some things that were found in the inspection when we bought the house so they will be all done in two years when we move. We are also making a list of things that I will do over the summer while little man is in daycare.

Chuck also wanted to show off his new plastic bib which may or may not make dinner a little more successful every night.
