Bed rest confusion

It seems that there are a couple of crazy creatures in the Weber household that seem to think they have also been put on bed rest. It is difficult for me to be on bed rest when the two felines are laying in the very middle of the couch, leaving no room for me. It is a little settling that this is all that goes on in my home while I am at work. I have taken it upon myself to try and mimic the cats because if anything is an example of quality bed rest, it is these two.

Molly and Samer, friends for the moment. ( Samer = short poof tail, Molly = obese one)

Samer still thinks he is a little baby but he is going through a growth spurt right now!

Dinner is served

So the excitement of my days for the past 2 days have consisted of wondering what my friend was going to cook for dinner! Tonight we are having Chicken and Wild Rice with Fresh Tomatoes and Basil on top. Last night we had Fake Lasagna. It was so yummy. I asked her for the recipe and it was so simple I thought I would share.

2 days down

who knows how many more days to go! Yesterday was the first day of bed rest. Pretty boring I would say. I had a little trouble "resting". I would insert 5 minutes of laundry or taking out the trash into every hour of rest. Today I couldn't do it. I felt so bad this morning I thought for sure Chuck was going to surprise us today. I went and got my hair done anyways and am so glad I did. It made me feel so much better to be out and about. After that I did some work on the computer, took a little nap and now I am laying around again. Trying to lay on your side for 24/7 is not comfortable. By this morning my hips hurt so bad. When you are preggers and you lay on your back, your uterus presses against some artery and will make your blood pressure go up so I have been trying to stay on my side. I felt like I had broken hips this morning when I woke up!

I have the dearest friends here! My dear friend Kristin brought us lasagna, peanut butter and banana cobbler and french bread for dinner. She is planning on feeding us for two more nights. Did I mention Kristin's husband is an ER resident. She is a stay at home mom with two kids and one on the way. If anything makes me feel worthless it is that she is cooking me dinner. She should be on bed rest, not me! I am so thankful that we have found so many wonderful friends and she will definitely get paid back after Baby Chuck has arrived and baby boy Husainy is closer to making his appearance! I think sometimes I feel bad exposing people to my cooking though. I would hate to kill someone or give someone food that is just plain gross!

Dr. has four more days of work before he gets another day off. I feel like everything seems to work out as planned or just plain work out. So I have decided that Chuck will probably wait for a day that his daddy is off work to make his debut so I don't have to panic trying to get in touch with him and the residents don't have to race around to cover Dr's shift. So I think we are in the clear until at least Sunday night! You may all chill out until then. We will take it from there.

Rosa Parks

Well, February has come and gone and with it came the celebration of Black History month. Our core characteristic at school for February was courage. Every month we spend some time on the monthly characteristic because we have so much time to teach character development instead of reading, writing, and arithmetic that we get tested on.

Anyway, my children read a little story about Rosa Parks and how courageous she was to stand up for what she believed in even though there were many against her. After reading, we all wrote about how we were brave or courageous like Rosa Parks was.

One of my children said that he is brave because he "stuck his hand in the washing machine while it was still running."

Mrs. Lorthridge's response "There is a difference between foolishness and courage."

Rats...

We had a day full of adventure. Our appointment was at 2:30 today. We went right in and got a sonogram. Every time we have been for a sonogram, we have had a trainee which is awesome because it takes about 30 or 45 minutes for the lady to explain things to her so we get tons of extra time looking at Baby Chuck. Supposedly our little lad has TONS of hair! Last time he had no hair so I had prepared myself for a bald baby! Well, it turns out that he has a big fro going on in there. Can't wait to see what color it is!

Then it was time to see the doctor. Yes, my blood pressure was up again. The doctor asked if I had been taking it easy. I tried to explain that it is hard to when you are OCD. She laughed but I told her I was trying to be truthful. She insisted that strict bed rest begin ASAP. She would not give me the four more days until Spring Break.

So after the strict bed rest comment, she admitted me to the hospital. Yes, it is true. We walked over the the hospital, had to get in the hospital gown and get strapped to all these monitors. We were watching the baby's heart rate, my contractions, and my blood pressure. So after two hours, my blood pressure went down to normal. The entire time the baby was perfect and I was just having Braxton Hicks contractions ( which I wasn't even feeling). I hate to admit this but it was rather peaceful being in the hospital and not being able to do anything.

Anyways, after a four hour doctor's appointment, we were discharged from the hospital and told everything is perfectly normal. All tests came back fine. Just go home and don't get up. So here I am. In bed. Nothing wrong but I can't get up. I can go potty and to the fridge but other than that I can't do it.

I am not really that surprised. I have just been waiting this whole pregnancy for someone to finally say... ok, you have to stop this or you can't do that anymore. Not just you probably shouldn't but to finally say STOP. So here it is. I have to relax. I am NOT good at that.

My doctor said a lot of people take up knitting. I told her that just mentioning that made my blood pressure go up. Don't think I am going to sit and do nothing. I will have my computer in my lap 24/7 emailing and working from home.

OK, I am trying to think if there is anything else. Oh, Chuck is 6 pounds and 3oz. He is measuring in the 75 percentile... still about a week and a few days ahead of what he should be ( pretty much same as last time.)

I think that is all for now. I will either be writing a lot out of boredom or not at all out of the pure nothingness that has become my daily life. Did I mention I have officially been on bed rest for an hour and I am bored.

OK gotta find something to do.

Bets are on!

Our doctor's appointment is today at 2:30. We get to see Baby Chuck again ( an unexpected ultrasound!). At 28 weeks he was 3 1/4 pounds. Now I am 35 weeks. My guess is that he is 5 3/4 pounds. What's your bet..... unfortunately there is no money involved in this.....

We will post pics and more details this afternoon! Keep Baby Chuck (and his mama's right ribs) in your thoughts today!
