One Day at a TIme

Yesterday when I posted pictures, it was a little after lunch and things were looking up. Chuck quickly went down hill and we didn't make it much longer without vomiting. We went through about 7 pajamas last night. We are hoping that yesterday was the worst day and that is why he was only awake for 4 hours total. Here is a video from yesterday. This was when he felt the best yesterday. You can tell it didn't last long. He ate about 4 ounces of food yesterday and had about 10 ounces of formula. It was extremely hard to keep any medicine in him.

Today, he felt much better. Still a little weak. We haven't vomited since last night! We didn't have to fight the fever much today. We tried to spend most of the afternoon outside to get away from the sick germs. He still is not eating. Again today, he only ate 4 ounces of food and 10 ounces of liquid. On a normal day he eats about 12-18 ounces of food and 35 ounces of liquid if that puts anything in perspective! Here are some pictures and video from today. I think I am going to take off Monday just in case he isn't back to eating yet. I was thinking about taking a day for myself anyways. Might as well be on the safe side.

Today we decided that the word that described his mood today was feisty. Either we did what he wanted or we were going to regret it. I don't know if he bit me or he was trying to sooth his teething! He's packing some power behind those two little front teeth!

Dora daycare

Our new favorite thing is Dora. All the little guy wants to do is watch Dora and rock. My calves are going to be huge.

Today we have
Kept a bottle down

Ate a few spoonfuls of pears and kept them down!

Fell asleep after only being up an hour.

Woke up and had a breathing treatment and bath to get everything moving.

Kept another bottle down

Then we watched Dora..... For a very long time, rocked, and fell asleep.

Chuck has been awake a total of two and a half hours today. He must be sleeping this sickness off. He must not have as much energy as he did yesterday. He wore his daddy out. So much so that dad fell asleep on the couch about 30 minutes after Chuck went down for the night. Still, no complaining or crying ( from either of them... Hehe) Just a lot of snuggling and big hugs. I guess we have beaten the vomitting. Now we just need to beat the fever.

The Flu Flew

We went to the doctor today and got tested for flu. We tested negative so we do not have the flu! Chuck has to stay home tomorrow because of his fever today so he will be attending daddy daycare. Hopefully, he will be well enough to go back to school Friday. If not, I will stay home with him. He looks pretty sick with red circles around his eyes. Although, I think he always fakes it for the doctor because when we were there, he just wanted to be pushed around in the rollie office chair and was just having a fantastic time. I am glad they have tests for sicknesses because just looking at him and the fun he was having in that chair you might say that he was quite chipper and didn't feel bad at all.

For some reason when he is sick, he prefers daddy. Well, he prefers to play with daddy not mama. So we had an afternoon of him sitting in my lap ( because a freak out would happen if he wasn't touching mom) but playing with dad and only dad.

He did get a good nap in ( as did mom) before we went to the doctor but Chuckster would not go to sleep tonight and was up 2 1/2 hours past his bedtime before he decided he would stop fighting dreamland.

Here are a couple of quick videos.

Poor baby

Chuck slept pretty good last night. He did seem like he was having problems breathing ( like maybe stopped up nose) but I could feel it in his chest. He got a breathing treatment last night and I gave him one this morning before school. Last night he had 100.1 and they say it's not a fever until 100.4 so I still thought it might just be the teeth. This morning I checked his temp and I got daycare to check it. No fever. My classroom phone rang at 11 today. It was daycare saying he had a fever of 101.6. So the little guy is now at home with mama and daddy ( who is going to stay home from work so he can go to the doctor with us). Chuck is napping right now and we will go to the doctor at 4 to rule out the flu, rsv, and anything else we can think of.
Sweet baby. Such a good disposition. Not crying or anything. He just wants to snuggle. So cross your fingers it is not the flu because if it is I would expect the whole house to get it. Hmmmmm.

Zombified

Well, well, well. After last night I am quite surprised I made it through the day! Chuck went to sleep at the normal time last night. As my head hit the pillow, he woke up. So I stuck a bottle in his mouth, because who wouldn't?. Right? He goes back to sleep for about 10 minutes and he is up. Up until about 2. We went back and forth from the crib several times. Chuck would fall asleep on my chest, he would go in his crib for about 10 minutes, and then wake up. Yada yada yada. This is not fun for a mama who usually get up anywhere from 4:30 to 5:00to get ready for work. Yuck. Mama tired. I just knew that he was going to crash at daycare. Nope, took his usual 30 minute nap. So needless to say, he was pretty tired when we got home today. Hence the caddy wompus child in the chair. Poor child was so tired, he couldn't sit like a normal person.

Couldn't get the child to sit up straight. He fell asleep in his birthday suit after a millisecond bath. He went to bed with a small fever. I think we are working on getting some back teeth in. So as of a minute ago he was sound asleep. He went to sleep with some motrin and his nebulizer treatment since his breathing was sounding a little weird. He actually just woke up and is coughing but has turned around in his bed and turned his music box on. Let's pray for extended sleep.

Did I mention that before last night we had gotten back to twice a night feedings? I feel like the mother of a newborn. I really think that we are in an ultimate growth spurt and that's why we are waking so much. Yesterday, little dude came home and ate three things of food for dinner. We are uping the intake of food at breakfast and lunch so he won't be ravenous at dinner.

Bedtime! Night night!

10 Months!

Happy 10 months Chuckaroo! This little guy gets funnier and more independent everyday! Usually when I drop Chuck off, he kind of just sits there on the floor and looks at me. I think.... he must be so bored during the day. Today, one of his little friends was there early. (He is usually stuck with all the new babies for a while.) I put him on the floor next to his friend, handed him a toy and started unpacking his bag. I watched him and first he handed the toy to his friend so I gave him another one so they could each have one. Then his friend ( who is 4 months older) crawled to the back of the room laughing and looking back at Chuck. Chuck followed and within about 5 seconds they were both standing up at a bookshelf laughing and playing with their toys. Today, I realized for the first time that (1) my child is very social, (2) Chuck has friends, (3) he can share (4) he is doing the same things that someone 4 months older is doing. Needless to say, it was a proud mama moment. He just looked up at me and smiled like he was excited he got to show me what it is like at school once his friends get there. I never believed them but I guess they are serious when they say he is nonstop.

Well, I might take back that social part of it. When I arrived to pick him up today, I walked in and figured he must be in the other room because I couldn't find him anywhere. I got his bag and got his extra bottle from the fridge. His teacher said, "you are going to have to go over there and get him, he won't turn around." Chuck has two teachers but one leaves at 4. Most days, I get there around 4 to pick him up. Today when it was time for his teacher to leave, there were still too many kids there ( one teacher to every four kids) so they had to put another teacher in there until some of the babies got picked up.... which is totally normal. Chuck did not recognize the temporary teacher so he had crawled over to the bookshelf and faced the corner and wold not turn around. Whenever he turned around he would start getting upset so would turn his head back around and face the corner again. I guess it was his way to deal with being upset. I thought it was about the sweetest thing ever to put himself in a corner because he was sad. Bless his little heart.

I will try and get some pictures tomorrow. I promise.
