Dirty Day

Since it was beautiful today and we started off our day digging in the dirt, we came home and let "big shorty" nap and then continued our day outside.

I found this water table for Smith for $14 yesterday. Chuck enjoyed it just as much as Smith.

We played in the bubbles.

Ate sand ....

Practiced climbing

Found some worms

Played house

Learned how to zip our pants

And practiced sitting like a big boy

And of course started our day off with a little lovin'

Birthday party

Well, we had another birthday party to go to this morning. It's days like these that make me wonder if in OCD. We went to someone's house today and if it had been my house I would not have let anyone in.

They live around the corner so I offered to drop some of our outdoor toys, etc off at their house earlier in the week. They said they were fine.

There was nothing to play with in the back yard. There were a lot of holes so all the kids kept falling. There was a fountain that didn't work that had old yucky water in it.

I spent the morning walking through dog poop trying to keep us relatively clean.

This is what Smith ended up doing. Sitting in a dirt hole playing with the cover of an electrical outlet. Smith also enjoyed playing in the house that had been chewed apart by the dogs.

The people have a 20 month old that, at some point, was in the fountain and also ate a good pound of dirt perhaps mixed with poop.

They let the dogs out at the end and one dog came and peed on a truck the kids had been playing with. Made me wonder how many times that had happened.

I decided maybe these people had their third child and it was just too much so they just gave up on any type of structure or rational thinking......?

I think it's time for another shower even though we all bathed 4 hours ago.

Doctor visit

So I send my husband away for 4 days with no cell service and a child gets sick. We got to stop by the doctor this morning on the way to school. Chuck had a rash on his face. Turns out he has impetigo but the doctor said he is ok to go to school.

Da boys

Chuck (for some reason) likes to wash the walls while he takes a bath. It is hysterical because Smith just assumes that's what he is supposed to do! Even when he's in the bath by himself the poor baby is washing walls.

Smith is finally old enough that the boys really play together. Chuck is a very good big brother and takes good care of Smith.

Smith is so busy he never stops moving. He really doesn't get into anything he shouldn't. In this picture he had found Dr.'s badge and had just dropped it. He had just finished saying "uh oh".

The boys are obsessed with each other. Chuck can not stop hugging Smith and if Smith walks by Chuck, Smith usually steals a kiss. In this picture, Chuck was watching TV and Smith walked up and laid his head on Chuck while he drank his milk. I'm not sure if it's possible for these boys to love each other any more. I'm one lucky mama.

On speed

I'm pretty sure both boys are being supplied with some type of speed on the black market. They are keeping me BUSY.

After dinner Wednesday night we woke to Chuck puking. No one got any sleep. Dr. was too excited about the hunting trip. I was trying to sleep in Chuck's room but every little movement I would jump out of bed thinking I needed to catch puke in a bowl. My housekeeper kept telling me I needed two sets of sheets for each bed in the house. I finally got all the bedrooms taken care of. After the pukefest Wednesday , I'm very glad I had extra sheets. We went through every set of twin sheets, all the towels and blankets we had in the house. I was secretly thanking my housekeeper because I was prepared.

So Chuck stayed home Thursday but was fine for Valentines day! The boys each got two books and balloons. The balloons will last for weeks and will provide ample entertainment.

We had two birthday parties on Saturday. We were out of the house until 2. That means we missed naptime. I just knew I was going to get a real great nap from Smith but he decided not to nap at all.

Smith is ready for the parties.

Smith playing at party # 1.

Chuck at party # 2.

And wrestle mania instead of napping. (Smith looks like the one losing when in fact he was winning. He was just crying because he was tired and boycotting the nap.)

It was beautiful this weekend so Sunday we got up and went to the zoo.

This is the first time we have ever seen the otters swimming.

Smith was very interested today. This is the first time he has noticed the animals.

Birthday surprise

Dr. has been working so hard and never really gets to escape and do something he thinks is fun. With a lot of help from Marmee and Poppy, we put together a surprise birthday trip to a hunting lodge. All inclusive 4 day weekend.

I took Dr. out to dinner on Wednesday. He didn't know we were going. I handed him clothes and said be ready by 6:30. The babysitter showed up and we jumped in the car. I told him not only was dinner for Valentines Day but i also wanted to celebrate his birthday. I took him to a fancy restaurant downtown. He got to open a birthday present in the car. (I'm so full Of surprises.).

We had a delicious meal and I told him that I had one more surprise. I didn't know exactly how to tell him so I gave him this note:

Dr. sat and read this and there was total silence. He said he wanted to cry.

About 30 hours after this dinner he was supposed to be on the road to pick up his dad to go hunting at Wildlife Farms in Stuttgart, AR. What he didn't know was that there was one more surprise. Ben was going with them.

So apparently I sent my husband on a four day hunting trip to a place with no cell service. They finally got enough bars to call tonight. Word on the street is that they went pheasant hunting both mornings and deer hunting both nights. Food has been delicious with steaks, lobster, fried chicken. All three guys got a deer! And I think there is going to be a little fishing before they leave tomorrow!

I thought I had all the surprises but I did get a pretty fabulous necklace when we were at dinner. We usually don't do much for Valentines a Day but I guess this year we both stepped it up. This has definitely been the coolest birthday present I have come up with for Dr.!
