Circus

Well, Chuck and I went to Kidsfest today. They had a grizzly bear. We rode a train around the parking lot which Chuckster LOVED! We also took a few turns on the carousel. Like I said in my last post, I always underestimate Chuck. I thought we would walk around Kidsfest but there wouldn't be anything for him to do. I had to coax him off the train when our ride had ended and he thought it was hilarious to see the horses go up and down on the carousel. We rode on a bench.

There was also an Italian circus family. So we watched an hour long circus. We went with our neighbors across the street and they wanted to see the circus and I told them that sounded fine but I can't promise we will last very long. Can you believe that my child sat and watched that circus for the entire hour without even moving a muscle. The majority of the time he was standing in front of me on the bench and then he sat in my lap some too. He was so loved the music and was SO excited when they brought the dogs out to jump through the hoops. He was dancing to the music and would clap when the rest of the people clapped.

There was also a man walking on a spinning wheel and I just knew he was going to fall off. He didn't but Chuck thought he was pretty amazing.

I am so glad we went. Chuck got in free because of his age and I had a three dollar off coupon. We spent almost 4 hours there! Now I just have to figure out what to do with him tomorrow. Maybe he will let me sleep late since this morning he got up at 4:45. Is that how he pays his mama back after she let him stay up until 7:15? It always seems that the later he goes to sleep the earlier he wakes up. Ouch!

And a quick side note.... you can rent the train for parties.... if for some reason we stay in Jackson after residency, Chuck is so gonna have a train at his third birthday! ( I don't think I can afford it for his second one, much less fit in our yard.)

Playing Catch Up

Ok, I am going to catch up from this past week.

First.... the swing. We have a baby swing but do not have a tree in our yard to hang it from. So we compromised. We have the swing and the neighbors have the tree so we hung it in their tree and we all can use it anytime! Nellie is just 2 months younger than Chuck so they both have a great time on it!

Second...... walking. No, we still aren't walking. Well actually we are totally able to walk but won't do it. Tonight he walked from the coffee table to the foot stool ( 4 steps) by himself and he didn't realize it and I didn't even know he was going to do it. I tried to get another video of the 4 steps he can walk but it is not that great. Check it out...

Third...... the bookshelf. I had to take out a shelf in Chuck's bookshelf because he likes to sit in it and read. I love this little guy.

Fourth..... easter eggs. We have got them out and are getting used to them so we can have some exhilarating easter egg hunts around here. I was really hoping he would be walking for easter but to each their own, I guess.

Fifth..... ladybugs. Chuck can say the word "bug" and, in fact, he refers to ladybugs and only ladybugs as bugs. If he sees anything with ladybugs on it, he says bug. So we have a yard ornament that Marmee gave us when we first moved in. Apparently, Chuck adores this ladybug and whenever we play in the yard we have to have "bug" with us. Bug likes to slide and ride in the car. Oops! Bug also took a bath with us last night!

Sixth..... flowers. Some days, I am amazed at what Chuck understands. Sometimes I underestimate him. We were playing in Ginger's yard and Ginger picked him a flower because he loves to pick flowers. She handed it to him and after smelling it and letting us all smell it, he tried for a while to put it back on the camellia bush. He actually got really disappointed when it wouldn't stay on the bush.

And seventh...... climbing. Chuck is still climbing EVERYTHING. He climbs up the stools in the bathroom. He climbs up the bookshelf. He is starting to climb out of his highchair. He can get his knee up on the side of the tub and..... he can climb in his cozy coupe on the side that the door doesn't open.

Tomorrow there is a festival called Kidsfest. I think Chuck and I are going to venture over there or to Waterfest.

Tomorrow night, chuck will have his first babysitter. Dr is working all weekend and I have to go show my face at the art museum because our second grade class has an exhibit in the museum. The little girl (not so little but in 6th grade) from down the street is going to come over and play with Chuck while I get ready. I will teach her how to feed and bathe him and then I will put him to bed. Once he is asleep, I will go with Mrs. Day for about an hour to wine and dine with some big funders for the arts in our public schools. So wish us babysitter luck tomorrow!

On a totally different note..... I have totally lost my voice. My students were so quiet today because they had to be really still to be able to hear what I was saying! It wasn't a great day to lose the voice seeing that we were huddled in the hall for two hours while a tornado ripped through Jackson just south of us and then did a big loop around the school, hospital, and our neighborhood and continued across the reservoir. There are some crazy videos of the tornado that came through. Check it out....

Come and gone

Sun is coming out. I know Dr is swamped! We were spared and Chuck is ok. Tornado flipped cars and tore up a bank sending money into the storm. Money traveled to another city! Wish I lived in that city. Headed home to make sure we have no damage.

Tornados in the area today. Chuck is at daycare. Dr works from 10am-2am. I think I am going to be in the hallway all day with students. I will keep you updated!

One Year Check Up!

Daddy took Chuck to his one year appointment today. Chuck weighed in at only 24 pounds and is 2 ft and 7.5 inches tall. His weight is down. The doctor said she would be concerned about the weight loss but because he is already a good size we shouldn't be worried.

She also commented on his teeth. He is currently getting about 5 or 6 teeth in. He already has his 2 front bottom teeth. One front tooth is over halfway in and the other front tooth is just breaking through. The tooth on the other side of the new front tooth is coming in. She thought it was funny that the two front teeth did not come in more together and that he is getting a side tooth before a front tooth. She said she had never seen that happen. We know he has a tooth there though because we can see it breaking through. He does look pretty redneck right now with the one top tooth hanging down.

This was the first visit he got to get weighed on the big boy scale that he just had to stand on. He got all beat up today with shots in each arm an in the legs. He cried a little bit when he got stuck and then fell asleep on the way home. He was pretty grumpy this evening when it was bedtime. A nice rock in the chair with mama and he is now sleeping peacefully.

Fairhope

Chuck and I went to Mobile this weekend since daddy had to work. We headed to Fairhope to have a picnic on Sunday.

Chuck walked around with Bob Bob...

Looked for rocks and flowers...
And hung out with mommy by the bay...
