Yucky

Today was a yucky day. It was cold and rainy. Smith was up from 4am to 7am grunting and doing whatever he was doing. He finally fell asleep and Chuck woke up. Yawn. I definitely brewed some coffee as dad walked out the door for five days of work! Did I say "yawn". I am not a coffee drinker.... Until now.

It really wasn't a horrible day. Chuck and I played a lot of superheroes. At one point, one of the dump trucks delivering dirt across the street got stuck in the dirt so it was fun watching them dig it out.

Chuck is still totally obsessed with his baby brother... Until Smith starts crying.

Chuck worked on sorting colored buttons today. This was pretty easy but his attention span was very short today. I wanted him to do some type of activity so that's why I chose this more simple one. I also wanted to reinforce colors that are related to color blindness. There have been multiple things that have made me worry about color blindness. One being that Santa supposedly has a green suit and also apparently red and green "match". Dr. Says I'm paranoid but I'm not so sure. If color blindness is the only "medical issue" we have to worry about, then I consider us very lucky.

Smith started laughing some yesterday. Today he thought a drawing of a man smoking a pipe was pretty funny.

Well, Smith is making it very hard to get anything done around here! I had been reluctant to use the Moby wrap for fear I would end up hanging my child. He only liked it for a little but yesterday but has been in it ALL day today. We will see if he sleeps tonight!

Excuse the pics in my jammies. I put him on before I changed and then realized it would be too much to take him off.

Today I made Chuck some color matching. I went to lowes and bought clothespins for $2 and free paint strips. Chuck knows his colors but sometimes makes me worry about being color blind. This goes a little farther by introducing dark and light shades and working with clothespins.

I packaged them two colors together. Red/green (color blind colors), blue/yellow (another pair of typical color blind colors). Purple/orange and black/brown.

After school dad and Chuck pretended like they were doctors and mechanics.

And then played on the play station move that the got for Christmas!

Fluffy paint

At school Chuck has been learning about the sky. The past two days they talked about the moon. Today they discussed the sun. When Chuck got home, we painted with fluffy paint.

1/2 cup shaving cream
2 T white glue
Food coloring if you don't want white

Clouds

Sun

Smith finally decided to nap in the swing while we painted.

Breaking Ground

Something about living on a busy street at the front of the neighborhood.... Chuck loves to spend time out in the front. They have broken ground on the lot across the street for a parade of homes house. The construction vehicles made for a fun dinner!

I think we will probably venture to the dirt pile in the next day or so!

Chuck just said "I like sitting outside. Makes me happy."

Dino dig

My project today was to make rocks with dinosaurs inside so Chuck could dig for fossils. I tried making some homemade plaster but it somehow turned into sour bread. I never claimed I knew what I was doing in the kitchen!
I found this clay at michaels and Target. It is terra cotta colored so just perfect. You can pick up a bag of dinos from the Dollar Tree but I just went on a scavenger hunt in Chuck's closet. You could also use shells.
All you do is wrap the dinosaurs up in the clay and let dry for 2-3 days. Then chisel and dust away to find the dino!

Smith still wants to be held all the time. He gives me about 5-10 minutes when he plays on his mat.

Today was warm but rainy. I have taken it upon myself to make Mondays, lazy days. I usually need it after the weekends. That means no errands and the typical cleaning (laundry, dishes, trash) is the only cleaning that happens. It's a good thing because this baby does NOT like it if you put him down.

Today Smith started smiling. These videos are not great but its all I could get with my phone and my only hand.

After school, Dr. and Chuck went to swing next door for a bit. Chuck was so excited!

This month at school, Chuck is learning about the sky. Tonight when he was going to bed he asked if we could go look at stars. Too many clouds, so maybe tomorrow!

Super Sunday

Definitely not Super Bowl Sunday. I'm not going to mention it just in case Dr. forgot. Maybe I can get away with going to the store alone in a little bit.

Today has been fun but exhausting. Dr. has had problems sleeping so caught up today.

This morning I gave Chuck an water dropper, water, a bath tablet to color the water and a muffin plan. He worked on transferring the water from one place to the other.

He started with yellow water, then wanted blue, then red. After changing his water, he started mixing them and noticing color change. So, I sent him outside and let him experiment a little while I cleaned.

We then got out his memory game from Santa (from CVS) and matched some of our cards. He actually started making some patterns so maybe some pattern work is in our future!

I was itching to enjoy this weather and Chuck kept talking about fishing so I packed up the boys and took them to the playground. I was a little nervous about feeding Smith but I ended up just hiding behind the stroller. There were at least 3 other moms there nursing their babies.

Chuck and I had a picnic.... Well actually I didn't get to eat until we got home... But Chuck got to eat! He then ran around "shooting French fries at that guy". I'm not sure what that really meant but there was something cool going on in that little head of his!

Smith enjoyed his time outside, getting some fresh air.

This is the first time we have ever been to this playground but had a good time. We even went for a little "hike" on a trail!

Can't wait for Monday! I need some rest :)
