And Finally a View from Up here

We are growing so fast. We are making our way out of our last 12 month pants. We fit comfortable in 18 month pants so I am buying 2T for this spring and summer. On the top we are still wearing some 18 month but making we are buying 2T on the top. YEsterday I pulled out some of cousin Jackson's clothes to see what we had and found two Lacoste shirts. They were a size 3T so I almost put them back. Look at this little guy..... in a 3T.

A View from Down There

I guess this is what happens when you let your 11 month old look at pictures on your phone. He figures out how to use the camera and actually take pictures.

Two steppin'

Today was an eventful yet uneventful day. We just did a whole bunch of nothing except a lot of playing. The biggest event of the day was that Chuck took two steps!!! I wasn't able to get it on camera but I was able to get a video of him standing up. Here are some other videos too.

Chuck makes a stand:

What a ham:

Ginger's Yard

We play in Ginger's yard a lot because she has a yard man and her grass gets cut every three weeks. Our yard man has another job and doesn't really get to our grass very often. It is too thick of dead grass to play in right now.

Today, we pushed the car around ( we just discovered the eyeballs on the front of the car so now insist on pushing it backwards).

Chuck also LOVES the dogs next door.... wait he loves to hear them bark and loves to look at them. He would pet them all day if they didn't have tongues.

Learning Curve

Chuck is 11 months old!!! What a big boy. We haven't hit the walking milestone yet but this mama is pretty sure that by his first birthday he will be walking. At times he isn't paying attention and will stand without holding onto anything except the toy that is stealing his attention. If you hold both of his hands, he starts to run. Just this week he started walking only holding onto one hand. Next he will be holding onto nothing. The two boy walkers moved up to the next class. He still is with his girlfriend Jordyn, the precious little black girl. She is walking and the tow of them are hilarious in the morning. In the afternoon, Jordyn talks my ear off but of course it is just the same sound over and over again with different inflection. Chuck seems to understand because sometime he will laugh or all of a sudden do something with his hands. I tell Jordyn every morning when I am leaving that I expect her to teach Chuck how to walk. Here is our progress as of today:

Beets

Yes siree, my child ate beets and liked them.

Today I had a meeting all day and got out an hour early. Oh what I can get done in an hour child free! I decided to roast some beets ( and of course vacuumed and folded laundry.)

First I drizzled some olive oil on them.
Wrapped them up in foil and cooked them on 375 for a long time ( probably about an hour and a half.)
Then I took the skin off. I diced one beet for his dinner the next couple of nights and pureed (and froze) the rest so I can add them to pancakes, rice, and spaghetti sauce to make them have more nutritional value.
For dinner, Chuck ate beets, carrots, avocado, and some bites of banana for dessert. What a trooper! He fed himself the entire dinner.

I realized today that my spring break is actually a week sooner than I thought it was. Wahoo! That means I have the whole week before Chuck's birthday party off! The weekend after Chuck's weekend will be the Sweet Potato Queens parade. Most of their festivities will be in Fondren! Just footsteps from our front door! Looking for something to do? Swing back through Jackson the next weekend because Chuck and I are sure to stroll down there several times over the weekend to watch the parade, listen to music, and jump in the space walk! Check it out here!

Highly Paid Teachers

Are you sick of highly paid teachers?

Teachers' hefty salaries are driving up taxes, and they only work 9 or10 months a year! It's time we put things in perspective and pay them for what they do - babysit!

We can get that for less than minimum wage.

That's right. Let's give them $3.00 an hour and only the hours they worked; not any of that silly planning time, or any time they spend before or after school. That would be $19.50 a day (7:45 to 3:00 PM with 45 min. off for lunch and plan-- that equals 6 1/2 hours).

Each parent should pay $19.50 a day for these teachers to baby-sit their children. Now how many students do they teach in a day...maybe 30? So that's $19.50 x 30 = $585.00 a day.

However, remember they only work 180 days a year!!! I am not going to pay them for any vacations.

LET'S SEE....

That's $585 X 180= $105,300

per year. (Hold on! My calculator needs new batteries).

What about those special

education teachers and the ones with Master's degrees? Well, we could pay them minimum wage ($7.75), and just to be fair, round it off to $8.00 an

hour. That would be $8 X 6 1/2 hours X 30 children X 180 days = $280,800 per year.

Wait a minute -- there's

something wrong here! There sure is!

The average teacher's salary

(nation wide) is $50,000. $50,000/180 days= $277.77/per day/30students=$9.25/6.5 hours = $1.42 per hour per student--a very inexpensive baby-sitter and they even EDUCATE your kids!) WHAT A DEAL!!!!

Tests

Tomorrow Dr. takes his annual inservice exam. He is nervous! A passing grade is needed if you want to do any moonlighting or become chief, etc. Please keep him in your thoughts tomorrow!

Crazy days

We spent another day outside. Our day consisted of two wagon rides, pushing our car around the yard, a visit to another playground, and some playtime in the port-a-crib while mom did yard work. I have not been in the yard in over a year ( and you can tell). The yard is where I find my sanity so it was enjoyed and I can't thank little man enough for the 30 minutes that he played in the play pen. I did have to stop and watch him several times because he was practicing clapping and then he practiced waving which was just too cute. He also enjoyed throwing all his toys overboard.

( that widows peak shows up when you least expect it. You can pretty much tell what our day is like by our hair... today = crazy.... which means nonstop. He hasn't even hit one yet. I can't imagine what the next year is going to be like. I'm not sure if he could be anymore active.)

He also spent a lot of the day in a diaper and a shirt which he just loved. He just realized his wagon has wheels so if he is not trowing his toys out of the wagon ( i guess he knows it is mardi gras) he is hanging out the side with his hand rubbing against the wheel as it turns. We go up and down the street and the neighbors just laugh at him because of the way he rides in the wagon.

For dinner, Chuck tried and liked brussel sprouts! We also had pancakes for breakfast. Next time I am going to add less water and maybe throw some sweet potatoes or bananas in there to give it some flavor.

That's about all that is going on here. Dr. is working nights so unfortunately he has missed this beautiful weather. Looks like rain is coming tomorrow night.
