Easter Egg Hunting

Today Chuck hunted Easter eggs for the first time. He enjoyed picking up the eggs, licking them, and then putting them back down and moving on to the next one. He met the Easter Bunny but did not think much about her except that he was pretty sure he didn't like her.

Chuck also ate leaves today, read a book with Laney, and learned how to color ( on the paper and the floor).

A wagon ride and a picture with the cousins were also on our to do list.

Checking In

Yes, Dr. is still working weekends. ( check back in 6 weeks on that one). The two of use will head to Mobile tomorrow. With Dr. working all weekend, I didn't want boredom to set in on a weekend where everything will be closed. Chuck will get to hunt Easter eggs with his cousins and play with his favorite Bob Bob ( they are like two peas in a pod... I think they have their own language). It will be another short trip but a good distraction for both of us since we will be missing daddy.

I will definitely post pictures and videos! We love you all!

Pillow Fight

Chuck thinks pillow fights are hilarious. This is pretty much a daily occurrence after bath time.

A Mother's Prayer for Its Child by Tina Fey

First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches.

May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the Beauty.

When the Crystal Meth is offered, may she remember the parents who cut her grapes in half And stick with Beer.

Guide her, protect her when crossing the street, stepping onto boats, swimming in the ocean, swimming in pools, walking near pools, standing on the subway platform, crossing 86th Street, stepping off of boats, using mall restrooms, getting on and off escalators, driving on country roads while arguing, leaning on large windows, walking in parking lots, riding Ferris wheels, roller-coasters, log flumes, or anything called “Hell Drop,” “Tower of Torture,” or “The Death Spiral Rock ‘N Zero G Roll featuring Aerosmith,” and standing on any kind of balcony ever, anywhere, at any age.

Lead her away from Acting but not all the way to Finance. Something where she can make her own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes And not have to wear high heels. What would that be, Lord? Architecture? Midwifery? Golf course design? I’m asking You, because if I knew, I’d be doing it, Youdammit.

May she play the Drums to the fiery rhythm of her Own Heart with the sinewy strength of her Own Arms, so she need Not Lie With Drummers.

Grant her a Rough Patch from twelve to seventeen.Let her draw horses and be interested in Barbies for much too long, For childhood is short – a Tiger Flower blooming Magenta for one day – And adulthood is long and dry-humping in cars will wait.

O Lord, break the Internet forever, that she may be spared the misspelled invective of her peers And the online marketing campaign for Rape Hostel V: Girls Just Wanna Get Stabbed.

And when she one day turns on me and calls me a Bitch in front of Hollister, Give me the strength, Lord, to yank her directly into a cab in front of her friends, For I will not have that Shit. I will not have it.

And should she choose to be a Mother one day, be my eyes, Lord, that I may see her, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 A.M., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back. “My mother did this for me once,”she will realize as she cleans feces off her baby’s neck. “My mother did this for me.” And the delayed gratitude will wash over her as it does each generation and she will make a Mental Note to call me. And she will forget. But I’ll know, because I peeped it with Your God eyes.

Amen.”

Playtime

Not too long ago, we stumbled upon a man who was looking to do yard work. He had just gotten laid off from the hospital. He now cuts our grass and we got him to make Chuck a play area. We have always had this square area in our yard that is sectioned off but the only thing we can get to grow is weeds. He still has a little bit more mulch to put down but there is progress. Chuck's slide is out there and we will get him a house before long for his playground.

A Big Boy Day

Today turned out to be a big boy day for Chuck. I decided that I would let Chuck eat at his big boy table and see how he did. This was my dinner date...

He did very well. He would wander a few steps away and always come back for the next bite.

I think he may have eaten more tonight than he usually does. He had strawberries and I also cooked him an egg with some cheese in it ( veggie cheese.... cheese for vegans or vegetarians). He usually won't eat much egg but he kept coming back for more. I am trying to make sure I do not force food on him and give him plenty of time to eat. ( He is a slow eater like his daddy.) I was so proud of him tonight eating at the big boy table. Now, I didn't say it didn't make a mess...

A mess lasts all of a second, but the memory lasts a lifetime.

He is almost outgrowing his bath chair. I have tried multiple times to let him take a normal bath. This child is so crazy that he just slips and slides every where and I have about ten heart attacks while I am trying to bath him. I can not get him to sit down and it is just a huge crazifest and nothing gets done. Tonight I decided to let him try it again. I was so pleased that he sat on his behind or on his legs for about 7 minutes before he decided to crawl and then stand up. Progress, I'll take it. I know it will take time to get used to all the faucets and handles, etc. Baby steps... baby steps.

Chuck had an impromptu photo shoot with Miss Akisha today and a mini playdate with Jake. If you are on the actual website to this blog, you can click on the picture to blow it up and see our fine snaggle teeth.
