Hatchery

We ventured to the TX Freshwater Fishery Center today. It was about a 45 minute drive. Smith caught a cat nap on the way.

We got there and toured the building and looked at all the fish tanks. At first we saw some ducks.

Our favorite thing was the catfish exhibit. They were waiting for us to feed them. Unfortunately, we did not have any food.

There were several other fish and alligator exhibits.

We saw some cool fish eggs.

And watched a dive show. See the guy in the fish tank! We got to watch him feed the fish.

After the dive show we went on a tram tour of the hatchery and got to see all the ponds where they raise the fish.

After the tram tour we went and picked up fishing supplies and bait that they offer for free and tried to catch some sunfish and catfish. It was pretty hot so the fishing didn't last too long.

We then headed back to the car, turned the AC on, folded down the third row and ate our picnic lunch that we had packed! We were so thankful to be able to picnic out of the heat. We just couldn't bare sitting at a picnic table.

Both boys were sound asleep on the way home so we detoured and drove around lake Palestine to see what was out there since we had never been that far south.

It was a pretty fun day. I'm hoping that since sleep was not a priority in our house last night for anyone, that tonight everyone is worn out. A mama can hope can't she?
