Hearts

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone ( a couple hours early)! Dr. will spend his Valentine's Day saving lives.... surprise!.... I will spend it on the couch with the two craziest orange kitties known to man and the best kicker in the southeast.

I enjoyed my snow day. I just got enough energy to get up. Not going to say I didn't enjoy my 36 hours without getting out of bed! The pregnancy feeling comes and goes. It went for about 3 hours, think I am going to climb back in bed now though. I htink my body (ormaybe my brain) just knows when it is ok to "feel" pregnant. Thank goodness for laptops!

I am nervously waiting for Braxton Hicks contractions to start since every time I go to the doctor they ask if I am feeling them.

My first childbirth class is Tuesday night. Unfortunately Dr. will be working and won't be able to go. I am going to see if my next door neighbor (Ginger... our adoptive mother) will go with me (not only for support but to help me carry my 5 bed pillows in.... yes, they told me to bring 5 pillows).

Dr.'s birthday is fast approaching. He will be the big 30!!!! I have been trying to pry information out of him for possible presents but this guy is tough! I think he wants the baby for his birthday but I am afraid that will probably not happen.... let's cross our fingers it won't happen!

Yawn... back to bed.

brrrrr

At 4:30 this morning I received the best text of my life. It was a snow day. I don't like the fact that we are getting off so many days lately because my children are sooo far behind but coming from a pregnant women, I could not be any happier! I soooo needed this day off. I have some paper work I need to do that I can't get done with this new child in my room.

Here are some pictures of our snow day. They just said that in the next two hours, the snow is really going to pick up. Our trees are starting to lean and our power lines are starting to droop. Not as much as the 26 inches we had in New York during the blizzard when we first got there but we live in Mississippi. Where is the humidity and the sunshine? We moved to Mississippi for a reason and snow was not one of them.

snow day?

I can tell by Katherine's email that the snow is coming down in T-town! We here in Mississippi are still waiting. It is starting to sleet a little bit. We are expected to have 2 to 4 inches of snow and right below us is supposed to have up to 9 inches. Have I mentioned that our meteorologists love to lie. I kid you not, when I walk out the door tomorrow morning the sun will be shining and it will be a balmy 98. I think that meteorologists strictly exist in our universe to mess my life up. I have this love-hate relationship because I can't live without them. I have to watch them every time the news comes on and I trust them more than anything. However, they are never right. As much as I live to see the weather update, I would join in a protest against meteorologist world wide because I do not think it should really be considered a job. It is like you giving me a different jar of candy everyday and I had to guess how many pieces there are. Sometimes I may get pretty close and the other times I couldn't be farther away from the answer. But, no matter the answer, I still collect my pay check.

Ok, after my pregnancy rant, I hope we have no meteorologists in the family!

On the pregnancy front, I think my blood pressure sky rocketed when I got a new student yesterday. The whole administration, from not only our school but the student's last schools, were freaking out because he is such a behavior problem. What.... they call it a behavior problem when a child gets suspended three times in two weeks for fighting? Mrs. L, my assistant, says she prays every night for us that we will get through this. While, Mrs. L. prays, I shop for the riot gear.

The bump is still growing. It has gotten to the point now, even though I have about 9 more weeks, that people try to rush me out of their store because they don't want me to go into labor while I am there. The cafeteria ladies let me skip everyone because they want me out of the cafeteria ASAP as they are not trained in delivering babies. Baby Chuck and I are still feeling good. Still no real symptoms. I was starting to feel pregnant but right now I feel fine When I get home all I want to do is grab some food and go straight to my bed and just sit. I just don't feel like moving until the next morning when I have to get up. And I am not sure I even fell like moving in the morning.

Oh, and the email I just got from Kat said that their was a little ladybug that showed up at the end of their fun snow day. That reminded me that I forgot to tell everyone that we also had a little visitor the night before my baby shower last weekend!!!!

Happy early Valentine's Day!!! Drew will spend February 14th saving lives in the ER and I will spend it with my two orange babies and my other baby who is definitely working on his football moves.

Love to all and TGIF.... I wish I could say TGIS ( Thank goodness it's summer)

An Apple a Day

Baby Chuck and I visited the doctor today. We are down to our two week appointments. Dr. stayed sleeping because I knew it was going to be a quickie and he has to work the night shift tonight. First of all, the next baby I have, I am going to make sure I get pregnant and give birth in the same year. This paying two deductibles that they hit me with today was somewhat surprising..... I mean I wasn't that surprised but I was hoping they just wouldn't say anything.... they did though. So I just finished paying my last payment the last visit but I got to start all over today!

On a brighter note, Chuck's heart rate is just beating along and his kicking is getting a little outrageous. I think people at school are starting to take bets on my delivery date because they don't think I am going to last until April and they think he has started dropping. Someone told me I looked very FULL today. I said "I did have a fabulous lunch of fresh berries and spinach" and went on my merry ( or should I say mary) way.

I have been stressing because I just knew my blood pressure was starting to creep. Not that I feel any different. It just seems as though this whole "pregnant" thing has been so easy that surely something big is going to hit at any moment.... I think I am a walking time bomb. Well, my blood pressure was 132/90. Which I thought was surprisingly good... as long as it is below 140, right.... apparently I haven't been paying attention to the bottom number which the nurses seemed to think was rather high. Poop, I thought I got a good reading on the blood pressure. Well, the nurse knows I am a teacher and understands that arriving at the doctor only 15 minutes after leaving 18 2nd graders would cause anybody's blood pressure to be high. So they took it again when my appointment was over and I was at 124/72 which is significantly better! I laid down while I was waiting for them to come back and closed my eyes and pretended like I was laying on a warm beach..... hehe....guess it helped a little. So..... blood pressure is fine. Phew!

Not only is my blood pressure fine, so is my sugar! I figured they would have called if I was diabetic but today I asked if I could have my numbers from the test because my husband would want to see them. So at fasting, my glucose was at 86. Like I said before, if you are 120 you are automatically diabetic. (Don't quote me on this) At 1 hour ( after drinking some fabulous glucola) my levels were at 132. They should be below 180. At 2 hours, my levels were 130, they should be below 155. And at 3 hours, my levels were at 96. They should be below 140. So all is well in baby's mama's body! So maybe there is no time bomb.... or maybe the time bomb is in my tummy right now doing flips.....ahhhh.

I have started to pack my hospital bag and my team at school is going to be discussing a labor/delivery plan during our team meeting this week. I think they might be fighting about who actually gets to leave school to drive me to the hospital (of course, so they can be with me for support and not because they would get off early.)

So I am a lot less stressed than I have been the past two weeks. I feel like I should be nesting but I have no idea what I should do. Baby Chuck got so many fabulous things at his shower this weekend that I am slowly putting them away and washing things so they will be ready. Really, though, how long does that take.... an hour? I will post some pictures of some cute things he got and some of the cute clothes I have found for the little rascal.

Baby Chuck wants to say WHO DAT!!!!! to everyone.

We are going to put our feet up while we average grades for parent teacher conferences this week . Love to all!

Clean dishes

And now for the sink. It is has not been attached to the counter yet so you may see the edge of the tiles but that will be gone after some minor caulking. If you want to compare old pictures to the new, check out the old blog post here. I don't think I need to say anything. I would hate to brag and make anyone jealous. So now I share with you our new sink (with new garbage disposal that my handy Dr. attached). I know... it's pimplicious.

I made it!

Hello... is anyone there...... is this a dream....

Ahhhh, I made it! It is over! Yahoooooo!

Ok, so Dr. took me to the doctor's office at 7:00 this morning. We started with a blood draw to get the fasting glucose level. If you are over 120, you are automatically diabetic and they stop the test. If you are under 120, they continue with the test to monitor how your body processes the sugar. My fasting glucose was a whopping 86. So Unfortunately, and fortunately, we were allowed to continue with the test. So an hour and a half after that first blood draw, I had to drink an awesomely yummy ( insert sarcasm here) glucola drink with 100 g of glucose. Baby Chuck immediately started kicking. I don't think that is what he expected for breakfast. After that had been in my system an hour, they drew blood. An hour after that, they drew blood. And finally, and hour after that, they drew blood.

What did I do this whole time.... I sat in the waiting room, for four and a half hours. It was so exciting ( you may just want to insert sarcasm everywhere). Luckily there was a TV and I got some school work done. I was so sleepy though and have you ever tried to go to sleep in a waiting room chair when the back is so low down there is no where to put your head and the seat is only as big as your bottom. I did have the room to myself for a good two hours until the numbers started trickling in. I was entertained by a guy trying to find a new ring for his phone, a large man/woman ( not sure which one) who was grunting...I think for air. I was not prepared to perform CPR on him, and elderly people having conversations about things I never needed to know.

As I was nearing the last blood draw I was becoming somewhat hungry after 11 hours with no food. Apparently the little wee one in my stomach was hungrier than I. He was kicking the entire morning but this time he gave me a big soccer kick to the right side. I reached down to kind of rub my side and to my surprise there was a HUGE lump sticking out of my side. It FREAKED me out. It seems as though Chuck does not have enough room in there and need to stretch out his legs! I just shoved his foot back in and started laughing hysterically! I pretended like something funny was on my phone but I was in shock! I did NOT know how to react. It tickled but it also made me a little dizzy thinking that there was a foot sticking out of my side! Chuck also thinks it is hysterical as it seems as though it is his new thing to do today.

All in all it went swell. Dr. left after my second draw and our next door neighbor came and picked me up when I was done. What would we do without Ginger? She is our psuedo-mama. She takes care of our animals when we are out of town. She fixes us meals at least two times a month and she loves it when you ask her to do something. She loves to be useful and feel important. We definitely lucked out with the Ms. Kravitz next door!

OK, and now for the bump. Listen, today I left the makeup at home but decided to venture out with the double chin. Please don't judge. It was not my best day today. I decided I might as well make use of my four and a half hours in the waiting room and get a pic of the growing pinto in the stomach. In reality, I am a good looking person, I just didn't want to make all the nurses jealous today. Yup that is three pounds of angel in that tummy.

the end....

This could be the end to my sugary addiction for the next 10 weeks. I am on my way in to the doctors office to be bombarded with needles for the next four hours. I may not be the same when I get out as I was when I went in. When you read this post please think non-sugary thoughts about me. Well, at least until noon and then I can assure you I am going across the street to get a coke from McDonalds...... a large. It will either be my drink of victory or my last hurrah. This may be my last post for several weeks as I may not be able to use my arms for a very long time. If a police department calls, please let them know that the track marks on my arm are from an addiction of coke but the cola kind.

I love you all.
